Anthony Hunter, one of four children of Admiral Geoff and Abigail Hunter, was formerly with the Royal Navy until a chance encounter with Adonia Maria Ricalde Salgado over a treaty with the Americans ended his naval career under mysterious circumstances in 1879.
Once discharged, Hunter pooled his personal finances to buy the ailing airship Brass Griffin from long time friend Hiram Jones. Since then, he has been transporting cargo and passengers for a nominal fee.
It was during one of these trips that an unpleasant encounter with a lightning drake robbed the captain of his left hand. In its place, he uses a mechanical one – a clockwork hand – nearly as dextrous as a real one. However, he does experience occasional ‘phantom sensations’ from the metal, as if his hand still retains a sense of touch. Something that Hunter knows is quite impossible. However, despite the mechanical hand, Hunter has no other remarkable or noteworthy scars beyond the occasional bullet scar.
Hunter – 37 years old at the time of the events in Red Lightning – casts an imposing figure at six feet tall, boasting chestnut colored eyes, and dark hair, kept short, that is just starting to gray. Of his wardrobe, only his long coat with its deep, leather reinforced pockets, and plain, brass etched pocket watch are constants for him. The coat is a double-breasted, knee-length brown leather long coat with a dark leather trim that’s been weathered from age. The pocket watch is Bavarian-made, engraved with “A. Hunter” on the back.
Anthony wears no adornments or jewelry, being a plain and simple man. He tends to prefer white or natural tone cotton shirts, his knee-high leather boots – which he has had since his expulsion from the Navy – to round out his choice of wardrobe.
Anthony speaks English and Gaelic.

Arcady is one of the near-mythical “Clockwork”. A device that – as near as the brightest minds of the age can determine – is a true thinking machine. There are only a handful of known cases recorded around the globe, and so far no pattern has been discerned. Some are overly large insects, some are in the shape of clockwork animals. All are quite intelligent, gifted with amazing abilities unmatched by any ordinary automata servitor.
Today, the Clockwork are considered a ‘protected’ species by most countries, the nations that have not agreed upon this, usually seek to acquire one for experimentation or forced labor due to their miraculous abilities.
